If your child gets angry or cries every time he/she loses participating in any game, in Centro de Educación Infantil Hormiguitas we give you some tips to prevent him/her from having such a bad time and try to cope as well as possible.
. You need to make sure he understands the rules of the game. Sometimes children do not know well what they have to do and get very nervous or angry when they see that the older ones move chips or sign up so many, and they do not know why.
– Set a good example. Whether you win or lose, you should emphasize how much fun you had and what a great time you all had together.
– Don’t overestimate his defeat or his anger when he loses, but don’t show him too much enthusiasm when he wins either.
– Explain to them in words appropriate to their level of understanding that making mistakes and losing are not failures, but opportunities to learn and improve.
Until the time comes when he is able to accept his defeat naturally, be patient with him and encourage him to express in words how he feels (it will help him to know himself better and to control himself). But do not allow him to react aggressively to others or allow him to end the game because he feels bad.
Teach him that he has to enjoy the game itself, without being aware of the result, and that you value his effort and the fun he had, more than his defeat.
Little by little he will become less angry about losing, then you can show him that you are proud of his new way of seeing things.
